For 14 years, he has pursued his passion for flow cytometry, focusing his scientific interests primarily on bioimaging and the application of artificial intelligence modules in this niche analytical technique, which culminated in the completion of his doctoral thesis. Despite his academic pursuits, he has been closely connected to the industry, having served as Sales and Application Manager at leading cytometry companies, overseeing operations in over 40 countries across Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

This unique combination of technical and business expertise has enabled him to successfully implement over 200 projects in laboratories both in Poland and globally. His achievements have been recognized with numerous awards: four time Diamond President Club Awards, Best Product Launch, and Best EMEA Sales Person Bioscience. He possesses a deep understanding of the cytometry market trends and its dynamics and has extensive knowledge of all available technological solutions, including their strengths and limitations. This allows him to tailor these solutions to the capabilities and needs of specific laboratories, fully meeting the research requirements of users.

He finds genuine joy in interacting with practitioners, solving complex application problems, exchanging knowledge, and sharing it during user meetings and training sessions at various levels of expertise.

For 15 years, he has been involved in cell analysis and sorting using single-cell analysis tools, including traditional flow cytometers, imaging flow cytometers, and cell sorters. He specializes in microbiological applications and possesses in-depth knowledge of the available devices, their advantages, and limitations. With dedication, he collaborates with pharma-biotech companies, having successfully completed 16 scientific and commercial projects, offering partners his expertise and experience.

He is a recognized expert in cell sorting in Poland. He eagerly shares his passion and knowledge with cytometry users, both beginners and experienced, as well as with students, the scientific community, and the business sector. At CYTO-LOGIC, he leverages his extensive experience to solve the most advanced application and service challenges for clients and to expand their knowledge through the cytometry training and courses offered.

Michał Maj
Head of Research and Clinical Platforms Implementation

Michal’s most valuable experience was gained over 11 years of work in central cytometry laboratories at the University of Łódź, Cambridge, and Oxford, where he managed a core lab for 4 years. During this time, he co-initiated the establishment of the Oxford Cytometry Club and provided services to 250 scientists from various research groups, analyzing highly diverse material in terms of both origin and application. This experience enables him to address the most challenging user inquiries, design cytometric experiments from scratch, and support their execution and results interpretation.

Throughout his career, he has worked with cytometers and cell sorters from all leading manufacturers, including models such as MoFlo and Influx, allowing him to tackle the most complex technical issues. He honed his skills as a Flow Cytometry Specialist, providing application consulting services to users in over 30 countries across Europe and Asia, while working with companies like Beckman Coulter, Luminex, and Cytek Biosciences. He has introduced more than 500 researchers to the world of cytometry through various training programs and courses, and he remains dedicated to spreading his passion for conventional, spectral, and imaging cytometry.
